Do Scooters and Mopeds have to pay congestion charges?

NO! Besides a yearly insurance premium, the only other on-road fee is £15 for road tax.

 
Do Scooters and Mopeds need to be locked when parked?

Yes, a disc lock will stop people wheeling the bike away or armoured chain to fix the bike to either lamp posts or a bollard, these start from £30 - £140.

 
Does my child need a license to ride a Moped or Scooter?

How much does a Moped cost, and what are the payment options?

A basic 50cc purchased new will start from around £1200 and will come with a manufacturer warranty. Used mopeds range from £600 and come with a 3 month warranty.

Your child can begin riding a scooter from age 16.

 
What equipment does my child need to ride a Scooter?

Absolutely. Your child will need a good helmet, sturdy footwear, and protective gear, like gloves & protective jacket.

Your child can ride 50cc Moped/Scooter for ages 16, and up to 125cc for ages 17 and above.
