Your way to a FULL LICENCE

Motoden provide 1 day basic rider training courses 7 days a week in central London locations. These cost between £130 and £140 and include everything you need to get started motorcycling.

If you want to ride a scooter or motorcycle these are the rules.

If you passed a car test before February 2001 you can legally ride a 49cc moped with a passenger. You don't need L plates. You are restricted to 30mph. if you haven't ridden before we would strongly suggest that you still take a basic rider training course.

Anyone else must take a basic motorcycle training course called 'compulsory basic training'. This training course can be taken with a uk provisional or driving licence. If you are 17 or over you will be entitled to ride any motorcycle or scooter up to 125cc. This entitlement lasts for 2 years, you will not be able to take passengers or go on motorways. You must display L plates.

If you are 16 and pass a cbt with a provisional licence you will be entitled to ride any 49cc scooter or motorcycle restricted to 30mph. You must display L plates, cannot carry passengers or go on motorways. This entitlement lasts for 2 years.

If you passed your car test after February 2001 and you take a cbt course you are entitled to ride a restricted 49cc motorcycle or indefinitely with a passenger and no L plates.

The CBT course is the 1st part of a full motorcycle test. In order to ride without L plates and take passengers it will be necessary to complete the next three elements within the 2 year validity of your cbt certificate. These elements are, motorcycle theory test. Module 1 practical test. Module 2 practical test. Motoden can help train you for all these tests.

There are several motorcycle licence categories. If you wish to gain a full licence in any of the categories, you must pass the Motorcycle Theory Test before taking the Practical Test. This can be booked online at www.dsa.gov.uk
